   memorials themselves that were a rewriting or false revision of history.   
   The memorials went up as part of the reimposition of white supremacy and   
   Jim Crow and official segregation, and were intended to recast the   
   Confederacy as something other than the evil and repulsive thing it had been.   
      
   Learn that truth:  the memorials themselves, not the just effort to remove   
   them, were the attempt to rewrite or erase history.  That's simply a fact.   
      
   Now learn it, and then fuck off and die.
