   Hey Snag, didn't the Officers have wooden ones?  I think you are right   
   on the enlisted but it depended on class of ship.  It was a time of   
   transition.   
      
   I was commissioning crew of USS John C Stennis (CVN74) then did 7 years   
   straight Amphib FDNF (Sasebo) on 2 ships (a medium and a big deck).
