   I agree with John. Put the money you would spend on a boiler into a   
   good investment account and wait for it to give trouble. That 20 year   
   old boiler will still be puttering away LONG after the new one will   
   have failed and gotten too expensive to maintain. In this case the   
   "they don't make them like they used to" is definitely true ---
