   St. Pat's is part of the Providence System that was started by the Sisters   
   of Providence. I think I did notice a cross in the room but not a   
   crucifix.   
      
   I sorted that out with my primary years ago. She is not Catholic and   
   neither she nor the hospital have a problem with DNR.   
      
   Back in the '80s my mother wound up in St. Mary's on life support. It was   
   her stated wish not to be kept alive. My brother and myself were wondering   
   what sort of uphill fight we would have but she died naturally.   
      
   iirc when one of the pope's was dying the Catholics clarified the stand on   
   using extreme measures to sustain life.
