If the major media ever published solid evidence of BushCo complicity in
9/11, and they didn't back down until most Americans really believed that
they were responsible for allowing or conspiring in the attacks, I think we
would see riots. The US is a pressure cooker right now. The official
unemployment numbers are cooked well into the fantasy range. The permanent
[non-white] underclass is very angry, and rightly so. The middle class is
angry, and rightly so. Even wealthy Republicans are angry. We all know
we've been duped. We know Bush is the worst president ever. What's keeping
him out of prison right now? I call him the Amazing Teflon Texan. He's a
scandal generator, but nobody can seem to haul him in front of a judge.

It's very hard to imagine BushCo plotting something as monstrous as what
you're suggesting; but - and this is the important part - it is not
unprecedented in world history. As they say, those who ignore history are
doomed to repeat it. BushCo has more power at their disposal - militarily,
politically and economically - than any leaders in the history of the world.
And they know it. There's enough megalomania in BushCo to cause some pretty
twisted logic (such as post-justifying the war on Iraq with pathetic, thinly
   veiled excuses). Why stop there?

To see just how insidious this kind of [fascist] takeover of the US could
be, read the history of Germany in the 1930's. Read about how the common
people were wowed by the jingoistic National Socialists, who began to arrest
German citizens, labelled as "terrorists." Though this may not be happening
today exactly as it did in 1930's Germany, our *current laws allow it*. Let
me repeat that: Our current laws allow the arbitrary arrest and indefinite
detainment of US citizens. That's all it takes. Once the law allows people
to "disappear" legally, it's all down hill after that. All you need then is
a powerful, corrupt group of ideological zealots in control of the nation,
whose nefarious ends justify any means.

Ask me if I trust George W. Bush with *that* much power. Do you?
