They can't think past Wal-Mart!       >                     I agree the Second Amendment was an 18th century answer when guns were       low power, single shot, muzzle loading, pistols and muskets. Cartridges       hadn't even been invented yet nor had any kind of repeater, six shooter       or bolt action rifle. Clearly the founders never envisioned 100 round       magazines and auto or semi auto actions.              Moreover, the "well regulated militia" was also an 18th century       construct. There hasn't been such a thing since the civil war when rag       tag untrained citizens would show up with all manner of guns and rifles       without standard ammo or parts. It became clear real quick that soldiers       would have to be trained and issued standard weapons if there was to be       any hope of winning the war. The 18th century idea that people are       going to wage war with their own weapons is preposterous.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
