   nope, and with multi-terabyte hard drives being standard, even if   
   someone did choose to install 'hundreds of megabytes of software',   
   that's still just a tiny drop in the bucket. it won't even be noticed,   
   and all of the extra functionality it provides makes it well worth it.   
   however, it's still optional.
