Whatever it uses, I've always logged in by using https and
telling it to update using a firmware file I've previously
   downloaded(and checked the SHA256).
   	Exactly as Char Jackson described.
Any browser I've tried (Firefox, Palemoon, even the old M$
   bug-ridden offer) works.
Been doing this for well over a decade.
I don't trust the router to "update itself". It might have
been hacked and download something nasty.
