   My former psychiatrist Michael Nurse, who has since passed   
   away from pancreatic cancer, used to describe some of my   
   beliefs, including the eyebrow matchmaking theory that I have   
   since abandoned, as magical thinking, and was quite tolerant   
   of them as long as they didn’t cause problems for me or others.   
      
   I haven’t been quite as open with my current psychiatrist,   
   who is a bit stiffer, but I did give him the URL to my Salmon   
   on the Thorns webpage early in our relationship. I see   
   him every eight weeks and generally assure him that my   
   mood, energy and sleep are fine, though I tend to be   
   a night owl, and he assures me that blood tests done   
   before every second appointment are fine. He also   
   questions me on relations with friends and family,   
   exercise, work, possible academic work, and social   
   activities such as attending live music. I haven’t yet   
   discussed my repeated attempts to magickally instigate   
   a new age with him; he doesn’t seem interested in my   
   religious beliefs.
