XPost: alt.philosophy.taoism, alt.buddha.short.fat.guy, alt.religion.asatru       XPost: alt.religion.orisha, alt.satanism       From: dalton@nfld.com              I will try again beginning during this early waxing crescent,       which in paganism is auspicious for new beginnings. It is       also the phase of moon referenced in the moon invocation       I thumbed at random in The Silver Bough Vol. 1 by F. Marian       McNeill, I think in the spring of 1997, which is:              When I see the new moon,       It becomes me to lift mine eye,       It becomes me to bend my knee,       It becomes me to bow my head.              Giving thee praise, thou moon of guidance,       That I have seen thee again,       That I have seen the new moon,       The lovely leader of the way.              Many a one has passed beyond       In the time between the two moons,       Though I am still enjoying earth,       Thou moon of moons and of blessings!              However some on uk.religion.pagan and uk.religion.christian       have told me that the above moon rune is of Christian origin.              This early waxing crescent is also a common phase at       which lunar new years occur, though I don't know of       a culture, nationality, or religion that is marking       a lunar new year this lunar month.              For updates on my progress see the thread       "Silver bough thumb, once again"       on alt.religion.druid .              --       https://www.nfld.com/~dalton/dtales.html Salmon on the Thorns (mystic page)       "This could be the final breath; This is life and death;       This is hard rock and water; Out here between wind and flame;       Between tears and elation; Lies a secret nation" (Ron Hynes)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
