|    In what way is ";' (semi-colon) a specia    |

From: gazelle@shell.xmission.com              I am checking to see if something is a ";", with:              if ;==; echo Yes              I find that doesn't work - get error message "Yes is not expected at this       time". If I change it to:              if ";"==";" echo Yes              it works. Why? I think it also works as:              if ^;==^; echo Yes              So, the semi-colon must be special in some way.              --       The randomly chosen signature file that would have appeared here is more than 4       lines long. As such, it violates one or more Usenet RFCs. In order to remain       in compliance with said RFCs, the actual sig can be found at the following URL:        http://user.xmission.com/~gazelle/Sigs/Cancer              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
