   Yes, nowerdays that "clever" stuff is done that in all kinds of "high-level"   
   languages.   Everything changes, but still remains the same. :-)

   I'm sorry, but without mentioning /what/ you consider to be alternatives   
   that statement doesn't mean much, if anything I'm afraid.   
      
   Also, you need to use the right tool for the job at hand.   Using a   
   jack-hammer just to get a nail outof some wood is overdoing it plenty.

   I think you missed a few corners here.  This newsgroup is not about DOS   
   batch, but the batch scripting language as available under Windows NT (and   
   on).   Its quite a different beast.  Still clunky at points, but way more   
   capable.
