   Thanks but the need was for a CLI command. That's why I posted in   
   batch.nt but somebody cross-posted his reply.   
      
   The other CLI utility I know of is PSEXEC from Sysinternals.   
      
   psexec \\* cmd /c set computername   
      
   That command works every time in a Windows domain.
