It could be argued that this even more monkey business that asking the user to   
   use quotes, but most are familiar with notepad.  So this is how I've decided   
   to collect a comment:

     echo The entire comment must appear on that line only. >> snapComment.txt   
     echo All other lines will be ignored. >> snapComment.txt

     echo Fastest way?  Alt F4, YES >> snapComment.txt   
     notepad snapComment.txt   
      
     set /p ans=< snapComment.txt   
     echo %ans%   
      
   The cursor is sitting on the first line, thus the echo: to generate an empty   
   line.
