Well, translating at least would have been added value and denying that
does not seem very reasonable to me.

This may be so, but the last twenty years have strongly taught (if such
teaching had even been necessary in the first place) the value of
keeping important information distributed in different repositories. Too
many resources have died for whatever reason and lots of valuable data
   got lost that way.

To quote just one other example of copyrighted material: Britains BBC is
broadcasting many programs acquired from private recordings of sometimes
doubtful quality, because they got lost in their own archives. Most
antique texts have only survived as copies (not true, most are lost) and
in some cases only as short quotes in works disagreeing with them.

Copyright serves two purposes: The right of the author to be recognized
and acknowledged and his right to profit financially from it. The second
is not relevant in your case and the first would not be harmed through
   distributed repositories.

But no doubt, the decision is yours to make and ours to grumblingly
   accept.
