I placed a loop back at the end of the cable.              If I were pedantic I would point out that a multimeter can scope out the       conductors in a cable, as you strain the connectors.              Your description doesn't tell us if the cable is 10 cm long or 3 kilometres       - see what I mean?              If you're worried about the middle parts of the cable - then use a       time-domain reflectometer.                     I'm only so contrary because people ask for free help and don't tell you       about the task, and so you guess what they want.       They come back to say it doesn't work - and the thread gets longer and       longer as they continue to not tell you about all the aspects of the task.              When batch scripting was a hobbyist topic and was so much more difficult to       do tasks, the respect between people was very high, and it was a very       rewarding hobby.              Fast forward to modern days and people want you to solve their problem with       bugger all information, or do their jobs for them, and when you ask for       details they are suddenly experts about how much information is needed to       solve the task - that they have no idea how to solve themselves.              QED              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
