The first bluegrass version of it that I ever heard was a
recording by Dave Ferguson and his friends, the members of
the Country Gazette, on an album by the same name printed
   in 1976.

Dave Fergasun: Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Ridge Runner 0003)

The liner notes say that he and Alan Munde began playing
it as a banjo and fiddle duet. The version on the album
is fantastic and the arrangement features some great dobro
by Dan Huckabee. In fact the entire album is fantastic.

Performers: Dave Ferguson, Alan Munde, Roger Bush, Roland White,
Joe Carr, Dan Huckabee, Stephen Bruton & Greg Ferguson

   Produced by: Mike Richey

   Side A:
   Beaumont Rag
   Sally Goodin
   Brazos River Waltz
