   John Herald -- guitarist/lead singer of the Greenbriar Boys (the first   
   northern group to win the band contest at the Union Grove fiddlers   
   convention), sideman for Doc Watson, lead guitar player for Ian &   
   Sylvia, session player for many Vanguard recordings in the sixties and   
   leader of the John Herald Band. He died of a self-inflicted wound a   
   few weeks ago.
