From: @abuse.roman.gov              Several years ago I read a book or a lengthy biographical writing about the       Judds       (Naomi and Wyonna). The article stated that they were from Kentucky near       Louisville.        I never forgot that sentence because it jumped off the page as 'inaccurate'.              True, the Judds are from Kentucky but from my perspective definitely not from       "near Louisville." From my perspective it would have been more accurate to       say they were from near Huntington, West Virginia than Louisville, Kentucky.       Ashland, Kentucky is much closer to Hunting, West Virginia than it is to       Louisville, Kentucky.              The I questioned why someone would write that. My conclusion: most people       are familiar with the Twin Spires of Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky       Derby in Louisville, Kentucky. Thus apparently not from the area and not       knowledgeable of the geography the writer chose Louisville as something       he thought readers could identify with.              My, my, my! The inequities of the written word.              Helen       --       It has always been the policy of the       advocates of error, when unable to       sustain themselves by sophistry, specious       reasoning and false logic, to stigmatize       the advocates of truth.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
