|    Is Faster Better?    |

From: v_abadie@cox.net              I've enjoyed the comments on the elements of bluegrass. It's nice to see       there is some life in the group after all.              Next topic: Speed.       How fast is too fast, when playing bluegrass? Or, is there any such       thing as too fast?              Being a banjo picker, this one is near and dear to my heart.              MY opinion: Fast is impressive, as long as quality is not lost. As soon       as notes or chords are missed, and the song no longer sounds like the       song because of a desire to play at light speed, that marks the "too       fast" point.       Interesting note: Some songs sound better slowed down a bit. Try it!       When I sing "Dark Hollow", I sing it slower than most recorded versions.       It takes on a more haunting and sad air, and I think it improves the       impact of the lyrics.              OK banjo pickers, call me a heretic and convince me that faster is       always better.              This is fun.       Vince (who is looking forward to performing at Bluegrass on the Bayou,       here in Baton Rouge, Thursday night!)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
