From: none@nonetimtom.net              Split Lip Rayfield?              With a name like that, I had to go find some of his music on       the web. Found his web site, which has many selections of       his music. To me, it sounds like modern country.              I travel around a little bit to different Bluegrass venues, mostly       small towns. Hartwell, Ga., Tallapoosa, Ga., Acworth, Ga.,       McCaysville, NC, Blairsville, Ga., Clemson, SC.              Granted, the audiences at these venues is white and well past       55 y.o. Still though, I see very young musicians, teens and       20s getting up on stage and playing traditional Bluegrass and       Bluegrass Gospel. At the Bluegrass Express in Hartwell, Ga.,       we saw two or three young couples in their 20s in the audience,       and one couple got up and danced. At the Acworth Opry, in       Acworth, Ga., it is not unusual to see small groups of kids       from the local colleges and universities in the audience.              What do I like about Bluegrass? Good music, in a smoke-free,       alcohol & drug-free environment. Being in the deep South,       people look surprised when my wife and I talk with our       thick Northern accents. That's always good for a laugh or       two.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
