A violin has strings and a fiddle has "strangs"!

That's about it :) Same instrument different music. A fiddle player will
tend to use steel strings or "strangs" while a violinist will tend to use
gut or soft strings. You may notice only one fine tuner on a violin as all
but the "E" can be easily tuned with the pegs. The steel strings of a
fiddle generally require all 4 strings to have fine tuners.
