Well, amps are a pain. I quit attending our local Calif. Old Time
Fiddlers events once participants there began using fiddle amps,
ridiculous things they strapped to their belts, walking around and
playing. The sound was akin to using an old $3.98 radio shack mic,
recording a cheap fiddle in a bathroom from inside the empty tub! Gaawwd
   - auful! The locs thought it was wonderful ... wow, electricity!!

Oh, the same folks doing this banned open tunings and bluegrass tunes as
   being "not old time' !!
