|    Rush (was: Conan O'Brien Show in Canada)    |

From: lippinoff@u2.hehe              On 29 Jan 2004 08:18:26 -0800, Gary Boole posted this (may be clipped):              >As everyone knows, one of late night television's biggest stars Conan       >O'Brien is coming to Canada - taping his show in Toronto at the       >historical Elgin Theatre. Here is what I got for a schedule so far. If       >anyone can add to this please do: Nickelback (February 11), Stompin'       >Tom Connors (Feb 12) Barenaked Ladies (February 13). There was rumors       >about Rush being on but don't think that is going to happen.              Hi!              I'd love to see Rush on Conan O'Brien or any show like the one he does!       The reason is because I haven't seen Rush live in recent years but I've       heard they were doing their 30th Anniversary tour. All I could think was       it'd be nice if they came here, where I live, but usually big bands pass my       town by. I guess my town ain't big enough for the both of us!!! lol              I was going to reply to that older "Alex Lifeson Jokes" thread - the one       that discussed his career switching moment to become a "cop beater"!       Ya, that's the story I remember watching on CTV NewsNet a while back.              lol Hold on, I'm not trying to pick on the poor man or take sides in that       story. I must confess I ought to be reading the Rush newsgroup so that I       can become better informed I suppose. Anyone know that latest on him?              Well, I don't know much about what he did (if it was Alex) in Florida which       has landed him in trouble but I hope it wasn't because he was in another       place like "Margueritaville" (heck I forget how to spell that Jimmy Buffet       oldie now). Anyway, there's my really bad Alex Lifeson joke of the day I       guess. Don't get me wrong though. I'm a really big Rush fan as I've seen       them back in the days of their first album and I loved "In The Mood", their       first single. I used to detest friends' arguments saying Rush were a bad       Led Zeppelin clone band too.              Sigh! Oh, sorry folks, I was just about the old days and some of those old       stereo wars that went on between me and the neighbours! My, how those       wonderful memories still live on in my mind when I remember what I used to       crank up the volume for "Finding My Way". That was a fine guitar lead       intro for a song if ever there was one! About the neighbours you ask?       Well, I'm sure they managed to survive somehow even if it was seven in the       morning; afterall, they were the ones who kept "me" up all night with       "their" partying and and having to listen to a lot of "their" thumping       Waylon Jennings on "their" stereo! I watched some of my neighbour's       friends, who slept over, slowly make their way out the door and down the       street to go home I snickered to myself "it serves you right ass holes...       keeping me awake all night... and for not inviting "me" to your party...       jerks!!!" And, it did serve them right too so they got the punishment they       deserved.              What does this have to do with the Conan O'Brien Show itself? Nothing       really, I just thought I'd take a minute to write about the band Rush. I       didn't know O'Brien was coming up to the great white north though, that's       news to me. I watch his (and Leno's show) occasionally. God! How I hate       those late night, half hour "info-mercials" on TV. I can't stand them, and       it was because of those "info-mercials" that I found myself sitting in my       old rocking chair channel-surfing late one night. And, it really was late.       I came upon the cable channel "Show Case" and was just in time for an       exciting episode of "Trailer Park Boys", a TV show that I had only seen a       few times previously, a TV show that I wasn't sure if I actually liked. It       sure seems like the people who create it, create the show on, what must be,       a truly limited budget. That's not a putdown, however, because it just       seems like the time of show that I'd want to create myself. Actually, the       idea of using a trailer park as the setting for a show was brilliant! So I       watched "Trailer Park Boys" for a while and who did they have on that       episode? One of the members of Rush. Cool! But, hummm, who was it?       Has anyone seen which episode it was?              Anyway, thanks for the head's up about O'Brien's shows in Canada. I'll be       sure to tune in and see what's on. And, sorry for all the ranting but I       guess that's me. At least I won't end up channel-surfing for something to       watch. You'd think Shaw Cable would offer a bit more of a variety for       subscribers of their basic cable package, I mean some nights I can see       three channels showing the same late night talk show all at around the same       time and I think all three of those channels are Global network channels...       but that's another rant, for another day...              Lurkin' Lippy Lee              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
