   I must be a rare bird in that I teach Marketing and Management and play jazz   
   guitar (and not very well) also.  I teach that marketing involves finding a   
   need, filling it and using the price, product, promotion, and distribution.   
   Though I love it, jazz has never been very main stream in music.  We jazz   
   lovers have always been at the fringe and therefore, we have developed an   
   attitude (and a little hostility) about this.  If something comes along like   
   smooth jazz (which I agree really isn't jazz for the most part), maybe we   
   can use this as a way to move the average listener to real the real thing.   
      
   Just a thought.
