XPost: alt.music.s-mclachlan, alt.music.lilith-fair, alt.music.a       ternative.female       XPost: rec.music.misc       From: dalton@nfld.com              I just posted to various groups asking about positive       associations of fire.              In that post I said that I thought positive associations       of fire were referred to in Sarah McLachlan's song       Into the Fire and negative ones were referred to in       her later song World on Fire. Is that how you would       interpret those songs? What other songs or poems       do you know of that deal with fire?              Here is that post       -------------------       What are some positive associations you know of fire?       I know of the negative ones of hellfire and destruction.              I think positive ones are referred to in Sarah McLachlan's       song Into the Fire and negative ones are referred to       in her later song World on Fire.              I don't really believe in the theory of four or five       elements but am interested in hearing more about it.       If I had to pick someones to correspond to the       four elements it would be, from among my deities:              Air --- the one who turned the wind around       Earth --- Gaia (The Earth)       Water --- Water (the chemical someone H2O)       Fire --- Sola (The Sun)              and I'm not sure about the usual fifth       Spirit, maybe LOVE2 or Samadhi Someone.              But anyway I am mainly interested in positive       associations of fire or even sparks. I think       in Hinduism fire is related to creativity but       I asked about that on alt.religion.hindu and       nobody has replied (but that group is very       low traffic and the few there may have killfiled       me or consciously ruled my posts out).       Sometimes fire is related to sexuality as well.              Also what are other poems and songs you know       dealing with fire, including any you have written.              David              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
