From: dagberg@comcast.net              Ok, then. . . .I've discovered that there is a LOT of posting on the       Internet about the whole issue of "gapless playback," or the lack of it in       Mp3 players. In particular, there is a lot of griping about Apple, which       ignores the gapless issue in the design of its iPods. You can try       "crossfading" to limit the gap between songs, or you can rip the entire mix       as one track. But these are workarounds, not real solutions.              Someone sent me information about software that eliminates the gaps between       mp3 tracks. Thanks for that.              The truth is that manufacturers of digital audio players don't really see       dance mixes as much of a market. They see the world of music as composed of       discrete, four-minute tracks, apparently. Or that's what the existing       technology is good for, and that's what people seem to want, so why change?              The only existing DAP that handles "the gap" well is the Rio Karma, which is       now no longer produced (and isn't a flash-based player). Still, I might       just get one.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
