Let them do whatever they want, and       > I'll do the same.              I've always known that...only problem is that is if ANYONE in the band does       that, it's then it's no longer a band!!!              > Bought ELVIS live at Madison Square Garden cd at a church rummage sale       > last week. Never really listened to Elvis. He was a bit too early for me.       > What I hear on the cd is that he could actually sing. And that they hit       > the ground running. No doing a few easy slow / sloppy songs to warm the       > band up . .... then getting into the harder to play stuff.              Just because I'm not an Elvis fan doesn't mean I don't know he was a very       talented performer. His style of rock & roll was of the older, original       variety, while the genre was still just starting out and becoming       established, and often had a certain 'country'-like 'flavor' to it, which       would later be given the silly term of 'rockabilly', a style I never       personally really cared for all that much...mostly because I'm a hippie rock       & roller and into more mind expanding and psychedelic styles with powerful       jams, messages, effects, and overall trippiness ;)              > That's a pet peeve of mine. Band people who want to go as easy and lazy as       > they can on short stage shows.              Lazy/'easy' is a pet peeve with me about ANYthing! And it Demonstrates       Apathy, Indifference, and Heartlessness...which has NO PLACE in Music or       ANYthing else!!!              > By the time we got warmed up and playing well, the show would be over.              That's why I Love *long* shows - Concerts!              > Elvis didn't have that problem.              That's because he Loved what he was doing!!!              > They started that concert hot and stayed hot.              That's only doing things Right!              > I also noticed they changed keys a lot, even during songs, wonder if that       > was to keep him inside his vocal range ?              Jim              Maybe it was to give everyone some exercise for their musicianship       skills...so they wouldn't get bored ;)              I can dig that!              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
