THAT's what they are, NOT SERIOUS musicians! And THAT's the problem!

   > And that's the thing. I am. The mismatch is on my part, in thinking they
   > should care as much as I do.

They should! This is about if you Love something, like Music, and Show it by
Enthusiastically putting in all the Effort Required!
They aren't interested in much effort, if any, which Clearly Indicates that
they DON'T really Love Music all that much!!!

   > They don't. At least they aren't in the slightest interesting in putting
   > in the real work it takes to " make it look easy ", like the pros.

They MUST LOVE it enough to put in that effort!!!

   > But I never met anyone like that. Most people have to learn to do things.

I've never known of anyone like that either...it's called Talent because it
   must be Earned!
The Talent was an ancient unit of filthy lucre, and according to at least
one pastor I heard, it amounted to an entire year's wages, meaning LOTS of
   work to get!!!

   Nah, it's Dumbed-Down! Or maybe that's LAZY'd-Down! Same thing ;)

I cover only ONE Taylor Swift song, "I Knew You Were Trouble", and that's
   it!

   > So. Live and let live.

More like live and let SUCK!

   > I need to find my own level, people I enjoy working with. Quit being upset
   > that some of the ones I know now don't aspire to actual musicianship.
   > Actually, they don't even recognize real musicianship.

Too bad we're such a distance apart - I'm a fanatic for being Serious about
   Music.

   > Kinda funny.

   Jim

The way things are, it's kind of Tragic!
