I've always been able to tell a fretless instrument, usually a bass because
that is the most common fretless instrument, by it's off-key sound,
particularly during a solo, but for some weird reason, that seems to be
somehow accepted - but then Fender came along with their fretted bass guitar
which made playing with 'Precision' a reality.

Probably because of the Dumbed-Down nomenclature, i.e. "P" bass, or "J" bass
   for the Jazz model.

I've never seen that one, but with the three bears, one of the beds was
   'just right' ;)

For subs, 'mid' size is already pretty big...and heavy.
