Sure, but not on a large scale, so that's the goal!              > Maybe. But there were many others, just like Frank, doing just what he did       > that weren't so lucky.              It would be wonderful to bring them all to light so that there would truly       be something for everyone.       Besides, not doing that is allowing, if not actually promoting CENSORSHIP!              > It's a logical error to leave out the random aspect of Franks success.              I wouldn't call it random, but rather unique, just like him and the rest of       the band.              > Many others tried to be as weird as him and failed to make themselves rich       > at it. Captain Beefheart, didn't he try do about the same thing ?              Captain Beefheart, and for that matter, Frank Zappa, had a 'cult' following.       They never were or aspired to be 'mainstream'...but that in no way makes       them any less valid as creative, innovative and skilled performers and       therefore no less worthy of recognition!              > If you're sure the business aspect isn't important, even to the point of       > hating that ...... you won't be successful in the music business.              Without the art, there's No Music, which means No Music 'business'...only       CRAP!!!              > Have fun playing music all you want. Earn your living some other way.       > You'll be happy. And that's all that matters.              I'm an engineer - I'll figure something out that'll work - I've done it       before with other sound-related things, so why not with Music too?              > Well, who knows. I'm not bored. I play as much as I can manage, I       > enjoy it. That's just how it is.              Jim              My latest band Loves how the organ makes us sound, and they're having fun,       but Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and YUK! Yngwie       Malmsteen, and even Alice Cooper have been around and have their material -       NOW IT'S TIME FOR SOMETHING ORIGINAL!!!              I was noodling around on the organ and now they think it might be a good       idea that I do that on stage to start things off and between songs, sort of       like Deep Purple - I hope they're not taking their 'Joan Lord' idea about me       too seriously, but at least they liked my noodling enough to consider that       we should write some songs by doing that, which I'd mentioned was a common       way for me to get ideas for songs, so at least that sounds somewhat       promising.              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
