'Kind of' refreshing, isn't it? ;)

   > Actually, what's changing is the age of our audiences and the kind of

   > who preferred either the old 40's big band, or the 50's country stuff.

Although I can listen to the 40s and 50s stuff for a while at least, I'd
Never care to play it - too Boring.

   > No one, who had any money to pay us, wanted to hear Beatle songs.

Why would they? They could listen to the Beatles' Originals, and as a
result, had become accustomed to looking forward to Original material, and
they demanded it, which is why there were so many great Original tunes back
in the day, and also why I'm out to bring back that tradition!!!

   > Now that's all flipped on its head. Hell, I'm actually likely to do
   > Yesterday at Sundays band gig. And for sure Hot Legs will make the list.

   STALE and BORING!!!

ORIGINALS are the ONLY way to go!!!

   > I can " just " sing Yesterday in McCartney's key of F. Not gonna tho,
   > what's the point. It's a lot more comfortable in E. Our " other guy "

   > much. Don't care, I'm putting it where I can sing it comfortably, not
   > where it's easy for lazy guitarists.

Many if not most performers, including McCartney, are known to transpose
their songs when performed live into some key other than the original
recording...and they don't have to be 'old' to do it - Adele transposes her
songs...I think it's disgusting but she does it nonetheless ;) But I'll
still cover them in her original keys ;)

   > Hot Legs, looks like D for me. Did Stewart do it in A or G ? I don't
   > recall. For ME to get that just ever so raspy sound, D works, so that's
   > it for now.

I Hate that song! Rod Stewart has so many so much better tunes than that
   one!

   > Yes, we change songs from their original keys when WE sound better singing
   > them somewhere else.

With my new band, I just had to transpose 10 out of 22 songs...and I'm sure
at church band rehearsal tomorrow (after the new band rehearsal), I'll be
   transposing songs there too.

   > Also worked on Dock of the Bay this week.

YUUUUUUK!!! I've done that one just tooooooooooooooo many times...and it's
   Depressing to boot!!!

   > Thinking of legs, I'd like to add ZZ Top's " She's got Legs ", but that
   > would take another actual rehearsal with the loud drummer, and I'll pass
   > on that just now.

   Jim

ZZ Top has better tunes than that one too ;)

But as for the title of this posting, so many songs, so little time, that
*almost* describes my very situation with the new band as well, except so
far, it seems to me to be more like, so many songs, NOT ENOUGH TIME!!!

Hopefully, we'll be CRAMMING tomorrow at rehearsal like never before - it's
   the least we Must do!!!
