Irrational,       > totally irrational fear, is in complete control.              I've never been afraid of IEMs, only have a problem dealing with the growing       ever the more unpleasant sensation of having my ears plugged with       anything...but when I practically can't hear myself even then, that cinches       it.       If I was ever able to experience the sound the way I need it to be, and       still couldn't stand having my ears plugged past a certain amount of time,       I'm sure I'd opt for headphones - and even those bother my ears if I wear       them for too long - the humidity without ventilation really gets to me.       Perhaps if there was a design of IEM that had ventilation, ideally Active       ventilation, I'm sure that would help enormously.              > I've scoured the net looking for things like this about in ears. All I've       > ever seen, examples of people who won't use them, are old band people who       > just simple won't change their ways. They say things like " we played       > without them in the 60's and 70's so why do we need them now ?"              I like them fine, in *theory*, but the problem is that in *practice*, as if       just having something stuck into my ears isn't bad enough to deal with, it's       compounded by something far worse - my ears sweat internally and without       ventilation, or even sufficient evaporation, the sensation grow ever the       more horrible. Then, add to that an Idiot on the mixing board keeping me       turned almost down to zero!                     > Pure crazy. She's rather put up with stupid loud stage volume and       > cymbals.              Jim              I'd rather not do that either - which has given me cause to consider that if       the soundwork is what it should be, then there should be no *need* for IEMs       in the first place, only a *preference* for them by those who prefer them.              In other words, IEMs used as a 'solution' to a problem that shouldn't be in       the first place, are a 'solution' that shouldn't be in the first place,       because I've found that proficient soundwork sounds Awesome wither on       monitors, IEMs, or headphones...but monitors allow for actually being in the       Live environment, and maximum Love Vibe.              When I'm missing that, the Vibe suffers because there's a profound sense of       isolation and it makes me feel "Stranded"...the title of the opening track       on the Ignite The Sky Album, whose second verse says is so very clearly:              broken off communication       longing for transmissions lost              constant worry and frustration       a fire freezing in the frost              of all the frozen isolation       of a whole lifetime to endure              in search of and appreciation       of real Love that's true and pure              And makin' Music's makin' Love!!!              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
