Those who are always cranking too loud fail to realize that the Power
control on the amp is called not Power, but rather VOLUME for a reason - to
Match the average sound pressure level to the VOLUME of the area! More
space, i.e. Volume, requires More acoustic Energy i.e. Power, to fill it to
the same average level than an area of Less space, Less Volume, which
requires Less Energy - Less Power, a SMALLER number on the VOLUME knob - but
then they also fail to realize that the Volume knob can be turned
   Counterclockwise as well as clockwise!!!

Yes, and that's another thing - to achieve the proper average SPL, for a
larger area, an area of greater Volume, the Volume control does need to be
rotated Clockwise i.e. turned up, but that also means it's more Dangerous
regarding hearing loss, to be at the same distance from the
radiators/speakers as was the case when in a smaller area - due to the
   Inverse Square Law.

It would be SOOOO Wonderful if it was always possible to use only One sound
system to serve as both stage monitor and FOH, but unfortunately, such ideal
conditions i.e. practically 'perfect' placement of and distance from the
speakers,FOR EVERYONE, the band And audience, are so very few and far
between if even ever at all...which necessitates the use of Two sound
systems - stage monitors And FOH.

IEMs can approach this ideal, but at a price, in addition to their cost -
having to endure them being stuck in the ears...but I believe that the
proper placement of mini monitors in close proximity to each performer could
also accomplish essentially the same thing.

I've worked in the electroacoustics field for 11 years and also rebuilt
('reconed') loudspeakers and have observed that at very least it's 90%+ who
   don't understand sound at all.
