Just for the record, I have used Macs to gig with since around 1992 or
so (a Mac SE30 "baby mac" with built in screen - ran a midi out box to
a synth and used a program called MasterTracks Pro which worked back to
OS 6! - still have it, still works great), have done many hundreds of
gigs with them and LITERALLY never had one even give a hint of failing.
I have a PC laptop with Ubuntu and I like it but again, I like it
because it is so Mac like (or because OS X mac is so Linux like).
Either way, I use Macs for a simple reason. They work, every time.
And BTW, I have never purchased a new Mac - always used, always worked
   terrific.
