This won't last long, so eh       ........              I've been thinking about Refusing any more 'updates' myself - once, as the       result of one, the computer gave every indication of refusing to boot, until       I restarted it again, because that was the only thing I could do, then it       gave every indication of continuing to run something, like the program that       installes the changes, then, finally, it came back up - what a scare, and I       can only but wonder WHY? WHAT was Actually, Really, HONESTLY so Damn       'important' to justify such a risk?              > I will start emailing Ouise. And so we can still chat.              Kind of keeps the ng alive ;)              > In the mean time, I'm back to thinking about gigs and such. Squared dance       > tomorrow. I had to work up an old polka to satisfy a request.              Nothing like having Stupid problems arise, such is computer problems - the       vast majority of them are Stupid because they Never should have happened in       the first place...because RELIABILITY isn't a 'luxury', it's a REQUIREMEMT!              But it's soooo much nicer to do a show without the distraction of worries in       any case.              > Talked to the main person at one of our other regular jobs today. I would assume that the primary motive for doing so would       be to put on the best shows possible, unless they think you're prying and       probing...as in, they'd feel somewhat, or very 'paranoid' ;)              > Otherwise you don't get a feeling for what they like or dont.              Sure, that only makes sense, so there shouldn't be any risk doing that.              > One thing she mentioned today was that the reason for the bands was to       > make the venue money. Well, duh. That's what anyone with a brain would       > know.              Sounds like she's had more than her fill of Clowns, which after all,       Tragically, is the usual situation.              > What the bands aren't for is to have a party, play whatever they want, as       > loud as they want and ignore the audience.                     JimD              How could anyone have a 'party' like that?              I couldn't enjoy performing unless everything is set up Right! ONLY THEN, it       can be a party!              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
