There's only hardware and software, and 'firmware' is still software, it
just doesn't get changed 'updated' so often.

So technically, if you don't 'update' your software, it too could become
   'firmware' ;)

That's something that really boils me over...these Pushy Bastards just up
and start changing things as though they're 'god' or something, and when
disasters result, what do they do then?

The screen actually said that the logs will help you diagnose the problem,
   THEIR PROBLEM and YOUR INJURY?

   > They didn't.

It's THEIR FAULT so THEY should FIX what THEY BROKE!!!

You've got the damaged system back up and the damage is nothing major?
   Sounds like a Miracle!

Let me guess, you had to be the one to figure everything out, how to do it,
   right?

   > Without the desktop wars ( microsoft / apple ), we wouldn't have modern

There Must Always be wars against Monopolies, or we'll have Nothing.

To me, usenet is the REAL, No Nonense 'social media' ;)
Just click on "subscribe", and start posting, that easy, the way it should
   be!

Yeah, the Zombies took over, and that was the end of imaginative creative
genius...but there was a time when it was certainly worth staying up for,
particularly while partying, and they even had a sketch which mentioned
something to the effect that 'a recent survey indicates that most people who
watch Saturday Night Live are stoned!' and from personal experience, I can
admit there was a lot of truth in that statement...and most of the bands
they had were great too ;)

Nursing home gigs are for essentially captive audiences and they're starved
   for something that's not boring.

   > The motive was ,,,,, she had someone else she'd rather use. That's that.

I wonder what the reason for that was.

That's called Raising the bar, Wising Up instead of Dumbing Down.

I'll NEVER Dumb Down! And any place that wants that is no place I'd care to
play...the CRAP acts can have it - it's what they and those who hire them,
deserve...so that means it's up to the audience to Demand Quality, and if
they don't, they can have it too!!!

   > That isn't what happened in this case. She just has someone else she'd
   > rather use. Ok with me. It has to be, I can't change it.

Could be something as simple, and simply Disgusting, as Nepotism.

It's Always All About the Music for me!

And where in that 'equation' do you suppose the Quality in a band factor
   comes in?
Looks like they're focused on the wrong things ;)

   > Then again, less than 4 dates a year and the acts aren't there often
   > enough to enjoy it or build a crowd. So less than 4 dates a year, and I
   > dont' care. That's why I don't care about the one I lost today.

That's apparently what they're not considering if even thinking about it at
   all.

   > Some vanishingly small percentage of bands get fabulously wealthy. Rest
   > make poverty wages, if that.

Yep, and that's what I'm sick and tired of, which is why I'm six tunes away
   from the fourth album.

   > Called a polka band friend of mine. No time to talk today, but he's gonna
   > coach me a bit tomorrow.

I've heard it compared to polka but the sample I heard didn't sound much
like a polka, rather more country.

   > Wish him well. And you too. Have a good evening.

   JimD

He'd doing quite well and soon he'll be getting the other eye worked on and
   be all fixed.
