I don't       know why Anyone would Ever put up with that...Willingly and Deliberately no       less!              Free speech is critical to the existence of Freedom, and more than anyone       else, Americans should Always be Profoundly Aware of that - it's Precisely       Why the Amendment Guaranteeing the Free Exercise of our Right to Keep and       Bear Arms comes Immediately after the Amendment Guaranteeing the Free       Exercise of our Right to Free Speech and other forms of Communication in our       Bill of Rights...because it's That Seriously Important!              > Regulated groups are fine. Start a web forum, run it however you want.       > Their group, their rules. I'm good with that.              And I'll NEVER have anything to do with them, because they're Idiots for       Scorning Free speech, and so are those Idiots who Stupidly go along with       them - the very problem with this country in microcosm!              Besides, there's a saying relating to the so-called 'social media' sites to       the effect that if they're 'offering' you 'free' access, and you Must       supply personal information, then it's NOT Free and YOU ARE THE PRODUCT FOR       SALE!              > I'm on several web forums where you have to register. Pro music things,       > mostly. They're never a problem, because they are run by people who have       > a brain. They won't let troublemaking posters on, and so I never run into       > any people like that. I post. Other people post. We act like civilzed       > adults.              > So I'm not against web forums.              If they're Private, as obviously the ones you mention are, which don't       advertise to the public, that's one thing, but when they advertise so much       that they realize their Intention to become Popular, and do that stuff,       that’s       quite another situation. I call it IDIOT HARVESTING...where even the       president posts 'tweets' on twitter, and who knows how many other sites,       when he could instead communicate through official government sites.              > But here, it's even easier. We can talk. If someone wants to be trouble,       > have at it. I don't care. I'll just block their posts, I'll never see       > them. Easy, peasey.                                   JimD              Blocking the idiots is easy and simple. It enables the usefulness of       newsgroups despite those who would have it otherwise, which is another       reason why there's no need for Controlled/Censored speech sites.              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
