Then we shouldn't go along with them and instead make them obsolete!

Yeah, all only a show, with their *only* objective being their relentless
Desperately Wicked hearts' pursuit of the Root of ALL Evil...the Love of a
   DAMNED FILTHY *LIE* called 'money'!

We have FAR MORE than Enough, actually TOO MANY examples right now - we
   don't need any more!!!

   > Right. And if I didn't have to use this thing to make music I'd not need
   > what I have either.

PCs can do that just fine.

   > I could buy any ol' pc out there and read email or look at porn on the

They're for whatever you want to use them for.

   > the fact that I need a small portable that works reliably is why I have

"Reliably" means only until something goes wrong, and I don't know any
computer, or any other machine, that's immune to that ;)

   > If someone could configure a pc laptop to do what I do, well then great.

   That can be done.

   > Bet it would cost just as much as what I have.

Go with Freeware instead of overpriced Rip-Off 'proprietary' Fascist
   software!

Build one and put in it what *you* want, gamers do that all the time. They
overclock the CPU, use start of the art expansion cards and in general go
nuts with it, but I'm sure you'd have a much easier time building one for
   Music.

   Maybe Linux can.

   > Then add in that I'll not live long enough to move all my songs to some
   > other platform, and it's just not sensible at all to make a change.

Perhaps the software already exists to practically convert from one system
for another, sort of like WINE for Linux which enables windows programs to
be used in Linux, pretty cool.

   > right, you're aiming at bigger things. I'm happy to not ne dead yet.

I don't have time for dying - too much living to look forward to ;)

   > I often suspect this is hell. Literally. This is Hell. We're in it now.

Eternity starts right here, and it has started, and those who *insist* on
going to Hell don't care to wait to be judged and sent there, they do all
they can to make this world a Hell on earth right now!

   I wouldn't mind that, and touring ;)
