IBM actually called, branded their 'home computer' as the "Personal
Computer", even though any 'home computer' is a de facto personal computer.

I thought a 'hackintosh' would be something made from damaged computers by
swapping things out and sticking them together in new combinations just to
have something running rather than paying too much, as usual, to buy a new
   one.

   > How do computers ever get built in a gift ecomomy ? Seriously, how would

Computers don't in a Gift Economy YET, but some great software sure does.

   > I use some of that. And, I also use code actually developed to do
   > specific work.

That's where the Stupid three letter Dumbed-Down Zombie term 'app' comes
from, the word is actually *application*, and it practically implies a
specific use, but of course those of us from the 'old school' know them as
   *programs*.

   > are there any windmills around where you live that you could ride around
   > and joust with ?

It's already been done, profoundly, by connecting the 'windmills' to an
engine and then taking them along for the ride into the sky, 'jousting' with
the air and in the process, controlling the movement, in three dimensions,
they were known as the Wright Brothers, the inventors of fully controlled
powered flight! And there were others who also rose to challenges in other
areas to go beyond the 'limits'. I wrote a song in tribute to all those
'windmill tilters', on the Ignite The Sky album, because without them,
existence would be pretty boring and tedious to say the very least, for they
   are:

   4. The Spearhead

   verse1
looking back when what we have today was all brand new
never done before or imagined by more than just a very few
following their dreams despite what others would say or do
to discourage their realizing their ideas when they broke through

   prechorus1
then they hid their pessimistic faces proven wrong again
as the exceptional overshadowed the mundane

   verse2
always thinking far ahead beyond the limits of the herd
though they offhand don't understand proclaiming it's absurd
till innovation comes when creativity is stirred
and naysayers pretending that they never said a word

   prechorus2
then they put down their wet blankets a while and stopped their silly games
but I'd still like to get to know their names

   bridge
what if it happened that invention was received without obstruction
   and with warm welcoming instead
how much the better that encouragement would spawn the new construction
   and like a wildfire spread
   going full ahead

   verse3
pioneering through a world of skeptics and the doubts they wield
to boldly blaze in outstanding ways new trails in the field
   with dedicated perseverant determination steeled
against all opposition that achievement be revealed

   prechorus3
as the spearhead once again is brought to bear to drive it through
for the many to enjoy the efforts of the few

and where would we be without those special few
   ------------------------------------------------------

More than ever, we need those 'windmill tilters'!!!

   > do you own a vehicle ? if so, how can you live with yourself ?

Live with myself? The problem is living with the Stupidity, and Criminality
   of Dishonest Design!

   > Right. You aren't using your machine for the same things I am. Different
   > needs, different jobs to do, different tools.

There's nothing I'd need a computer to do, except to control something like
an XR18, but a tablet could do that.

   > You do what guys who custom build things from high end sports cars do
   > ..... you buy one of the original items then strip it down and rebuild to
   > your desires.

Sure, only problem there is that it's Waaaaaaay Toooooo Expensive!

   > Wanna mod a Ferrari ? Find one cheap, buy it, do whatever.

A cheap Ferrari? Never heard of such a thing.

   > Wanna mod a Mac ? Buy one, tear it up, rebuild it to suit. Or buy 5 and

   > it like a pc, go to iFixit.com and start buying pieces. Or ebay. Buy
   > some, try to glue them together and make them work.

I wouldn't even do that with a PC. I did know someone who did, with PCs - he
was always swapping things in and out and sticking together monster, as in
Frankenstein, sort of machines that half worked sometimes, but not very
well - NO THANKS! When I build one from New components, those components
come with Full Documentation, so I Never have to guess about Anything,
because I Know what's there, totally!

   > Is it possible to buy a NEW, from APPLE motherboard just by itself as a
   > part ? I doubt it. But I certainly can buy all the motherboards I want,
   > used. Or like I did, buy a whole machine and throw the case away. Yes,
   > I've actually done that. More than once.

Maybe just to jerk them around a bit, I should contact crApple and tell
them that I'm 'tired' of the PCs I built and would rather build a mac ;)
It'd be interesting to hear their response, although I'm practically certain
of how it would ultimately go down.

   > home use. I use mine at jobs.

So why does it have to be so compact, and higher priced because of it?

   > Different needs, different tools.

Or the same kind of tools, different manufacturers ;)

   > Sadly, people don't know always how to build the very best possible
   > design right off.

That's not a valid excuse - these are high paid so-called 'engineers'!

   > Sometimes it takes a while to get it just right.

But the Incompetent never really get it right.

   > Look up the history of helicopters. The UH-1 wasn't the first one built.

The UH-1 class were out a long time before minivans, so it wouldn't take
much thought on the part of automotive 'engineer' to at least copy the door
arrangement...but it seems they couldn't think even that small distance.

   > Did they ever solve that things issue with the main rotor flexing or
   > pivoting downward and chopping off the tail when climbing and diving
   > over terrian ? Memory is in early Nam, that happened some.

That's what happens when unloading a "flapping"/"teetering" rotor system,
along with another very dangerous condition known as "mast bumping", in
