She doesn't get her lyrics from memory???
Or at very least, doesn't *verify* that they're correct???
Reminds me of a character I once met at an open mic event, who claimed to
know Elton John tunes, and knowing that I'm an Elton John fan myself, he
insisted on playing guitar with me. His vocals were okay but many of his
chords were wrong and I was obligated to play them wrong too in order to
prevent a (bigger) train wreck - what a Bummer!

Or at least get to learn them first. It's like that with the church band.
Learn the songs by finding them online only to learn that they're going to
   be played a bit differently.

Or she likes to be doing something.
I always like to be involved myself, but then, I'll knock myself out
practicing and rehearsing so it's done right.

She should be working the mic! It's the original 'compression' ;)

I'd noticed this phenomenon for such a long time now, and I'm still at a
   loss to explain it.
I don't know what is about so very many exclusively singers getting that
   way.
I'm so glad that I get to play when I sing because I've found that there's
an awesome synergy there, and more Music to be getting into.

For the longest time, I'd refer to those who sing exclusively as "mouth
runners" ;) I got that idea from early elementary school grades, where
teachers would often refer to talking out of turn as running one's mouth ;)

   > Maybe she will read this and recognize herself... Kind of doubt it ;-\

Or she can learn an instrument to sing along with.

   > Suggestions (other than using an iPad too, which I am considering...)

The Vibe is better when the lyrics come from within ;)
