Assuming it's not pure Crap to begin with, what parts of a song aren't fun?
   )

I just look around on the web for midi files to learn songs and parts of
them...sometimes I find them, sometimes not.

That's most likely because they're meaningless mindless CRAP!!!

   > That's a curse that comes with aging. Eventually you lose interest in

The Curse is in becoming Zombies, not in disliking their Crap!!!

   > This should tell me something. If I really don't like a song well enough

YEAH!!! Especially when there are Originals to write, that the world is
   waiting to hear!!!

   > It really is time to prune the setlist down to just songs we actually
   > like, and or start writing our own music.

YES!!! Write your own Music - it'll DeProgram the Zombies!!!

   > Do I have enough life left for that fight ? Maybe. What's to lose ?

Of course you do! You're still breathing, and posting messages out here! And
the only loss is in Not doing it!

   > I don't plan on playing more than a few more years anyway. Certainly less
   > than 10.

You will if you enjoy it enough!

   > That came up yesterday when talking to wife about buying a new ( one last

   > did she say that ? I can't remember.

Life is for Living...particularly when it's Worth Living!

And help ensure that now lasts a Very long time!!!

   > Time to start tossing out all those unfinished projects in my life. Par

That's what I'm always saying - I've tried it their way, and wasted my
life - now I'm going to do it as planned, as I planned, with God's Blessings
   of course!

   > Walking away from band work was how I got into doing solo work those many
   > years ago.

A simple matter of moving toward what does work and away from what doesn't.

   > but then, after a while you run into some old buddy that has a duo gig
   > ... or needs a fill in guitar or keyboard guy ... and in no time you're

I'm kind of like that now, but I do have my Originals, and That's what
   matters, Not their CopyCatfish Crap!!!

   > Well, I'm as done as done can be. The new trio config is it for me. If

My plan is to see how big a sound I can get as a duo.
