   There are several:

   Dedicated
   Committed
   Resolved
   Tenacious
   Zealous
Avid...to name a 'few', but my favorite is UNCOMPROMISING!

   > I'm more in the mind of going for what's possible. If concerts are

*Why* would concerts not be possible?

   > terrorist attacks to end large public gatherings.

They've already got sporting events to set their sights on, but if something
like that was aimed at a concert, then we'd all Know the Establishment would
   be behind it!

   > Hey, keep points like that to yourself. No self respecting greenie
   > idealist has any clue at all as to where electric comes from.

It could come from solar, wind, or even hydrogen cells - only one question -
   WOULD IT BE *PRACTICAL*?

On the other hand, NO PLAN OR SYSTEM THAT IS *NOT* ACCOMPANIED BY A PLAN TO
*STOP* THE FURTHER GROWTH AND *REDUCE* THE OVERPOPULATION *CATASTROPHE*,
WHICH IS *DESTROYING* *ALL LIFE*, CAN EVER BE PRACTICAL!!!

   > Nor do they want to know.

That's because they already know they they won't like it ;)

   > Actually they are fine with pollution and all that, as long as it's
   > happening somewhere else. They don't really mind industry and stuff as
   > long as it's " not in my back yard ".

STOPPING *BREEDING* is the Only way to Start *Realizing* concern for
Everything they 'claim' to be concerned with!!!

   > You ever live out in the woods ?

Nah, too many trees and I like to see the sky. How about farm country and
flat lands? There are lots of nice choices, at least in theory.

   > It's not nearly as friendly as shown in Disney movies.

   It never is.

   > A cornered deer will kill you. Bears will kill you and eat you. Snakes
   > bite. Wild dogs will hunt you down and eat you.

As opposed to the Vermin in cities?

At least in a natural environment, you know the rules, or at least should,
   and operate accordingly.

   > Humans aren't anywhere close the top of the food chain without our
   > technology.

Depends on the technology - time tested and proven, or silly and
   unrealistic, like there is now.

   > Take away cities, you take away civilization.

If therefore that so-called 'civilization' is in reality nothing more than
Low Life Scum 'culture', I'm for taking it away and getting RID of it right
   now!!!

   > No more medicine or organizational way to stop maurading rape and pillage
   > from just random bands of young men.

Many kinds of weapons have worked well for dealing with the criminal
aspects, and as for medicine, survival has gone on without it for a very
long time, and for other creatures too.

   > Nope, cities are a necessary evil, at least it seems to me. Plus, I use
   > to enjoy shopping at the mall :-)

Cities are cesspools...and the bigger, the much worse!

   > We're seeing young people at our dances who don't REQUIRE us to be blowing
   > the walls out. Why ? They grew up with iphones and earbuds. They are
   > accoustomed to music at low, personal levels. I'm liking playing for
   > people like that.

They've already experimented with cranking it up, but since what they listen
to is CRAP, they quickly found out that all they had then was Loud CRAP, so
they turned it down - because it's not really worth listening to in the
   first place.

That's the problem with Great Music - there's always some Idiot who, at
least for a while - until their hearing starts failing as a result, enjoys
it at louder levels because it's so Awesome.

   > All taking that speaker out did was make the amp lighter. I wasn't trying
   > to max out its volume in any case. It was way too powerful for how I play.
   > And that's why I don't use those anymore. Why carry a too big, too loud,
   > too heavy amp around ? Should I do that just so people who don't know
   > any better look at me and say " wow, what a cool amp that guy has " ?

I prefer something small, light, full range, and powerful - and solid state
   can make it happen!

   > Just buy one, measure it, and be happy.

I wouldn't want one of those pieces of Crap if someone gave me one...in
which case, I'd be looking to trade it for a REAL system!

   > Or, do what I am, take their 112 db number as the level you should expect
   > in the real world.

For a thousand bucks, I expect at least 120 dB, and I still want to know at
What Distance and at What Input Power.

   > If we still had our old drummer that wouldn't be loud enough to even hear
   > if I held my ear right up against it on stage. We're not going go with
   > those speakers. No point. They have no advantage in the situations we
   > play. We have nice FOH cabs, and in ears for onstage. We don't need a
   > combination FOH / stage monitor all in one setup, which is what the Bose
   > L1's are.

I wholeheartedly agree with that - the L1s are only up to being monitors,
and waaaaay overpriced and gimmicky ones at that!

   > I've moved past all this stage volume war stuff. I've personally gone to
   > in ears. I either use nothing at all for monitors if the stage level is
   > reasonable, or I put my in ears in and listen to my personal monitor mix
   > if the stage level is too loud, or too rumbly, or too much of a mess in
   > any other way.

So far, the discomfort I've experienced with IEMs has made it impossible for
me to use them for any reasonable length of time. The discomfort becomes so
distracting that I can't concentrate on the Music, until they become
literally unbearable - then I yank the out and use another approach.

   > Working a lot now, and using the in ears nearly all the time on band gigs.
   > I'm learning how to get past all the imagined problems people throw up as
   > excuses to not use iem's. I can't convince band girl to try them. That's
   > her loss, not mine.

I'll probably keep trying them, hoping I might yet find some that don't
   distract me with discomfort.

   > I just put mine in, and play the shows at a nice comfortable listening
   > level. We've been recording the FOH mix lately, and it's just fine. Eh.
   > As long as she wants to lug a floor wedge around, she's welcome to. I
   > don't need to hear it, don't want to hear it, and will not help her adjust
   > it. It's her baby. She's stubbornly comitted to doing things the hard
   > way, so let her.

You're very fortunate to be able to just stick them in and go. With me, the
only thing I've found so far, that I can tolerate in my ears is sound, and
Nothing more dense than that ;)
