To me, anything less than concerts is nothing anyway.

   > I hear music all the time at eateries.

I have too, but never live, which would gross me out if I did.

   > That will either come piped in muzak style, or from live players.

I've only heard it muzak style, or even a radio somewhere in the background.

   > Either way, it's a rare restautant that is just deadly silent, or all you
   > hear is the screaming from the kitchen as the chief belittles some prep
   > person :-)

I've been to those kinds too ;)

   > " that'sa not-ta meat ball. you calla that a spicey meat-a-ball "

   > " it's a perfect-a meat ball ... just like my mama useta make "

   > " your mama made-a terrible meat balls .... "

   > " hey, you take that back, my mama, bless her soul, made-a the besta meat
   > balls in all of ..."

That would most likely be one of those 'comedy club' restaurants ;)

   .....

   > yeah, I'd rather hear piped in disco than know what the cooks were arguing
   > about :-)

Most likely I'd expect to hear silly sounds from cell phones.

   > He did. Or so the story goes.

If he'd turn up too loud, he wouldn't be able to hear the rest of the band,
that is, if he could hear to begin with - but being a keyboard player and
keyboards having a large range, there'd probably be the chance that he could
   still hear, at least somewhat.

   > The Truth doesn't fit her opinions. So, over time she'll forget all about
   > this. She likes a loud stage. It's what she knows. It's her " comfort
   > zone ".

That last thing Painful sound levels could ever be for me is any kind of
   'comfort'!

   > Yes. Stay away from them. As I slide gently into my senior years, one
   > thing I have learned. Don't waste time trying to change someone's mind on
   > something they really don't know anything about.

I've practically always known that, but sometimes I try anyway because
despite the Misery, I'm still basically a hopeful person.

   > It's not ususally necessary to try and change someone's mind on things
   > they DO know something about. As those people don't as often hold wrong
   > opinions. They can, but not as much.

Only problem is that there are so few of them while the majority are total
   Idiots.

   > The people who really mess with you are the ones who think they know
   > everything, and .... want you to agree with them.

I make it a point to avoid them as much as possible.

   > I offer my thoughts on things. Take them or not. I actually don't care.

That, in a large part is what "Why Are You Asking Me" is about ;)
They'll reject you every time...until...even they finally realize that their
silliness doesn't see them through anymore, and then they practically demand
your help, at which time, I rely with the words that are t he title of the
   song ;)

   > Why should I ? The only time I care is when it affects me directly.

If it's going to affect me, I'd rather just get the Hell out of there!!!

Or as some lyrics in the last track, "Departure", on the Opening A Channel
   album puts it:

I won't even bother to explain to those who don't wanna hear

I'll just shake off the dust from under my feet leaving them to their most
   ominous fear

   > In those cases, I'm getting more and more unwilling to listing to stupid.
   > When I was young, and didn't know what stupid looked like, I did listen.
   > Now, not so much.

I've known that for a long time too and always avoided such Wastes of time
and life, because I too Painfully know what Stupid is.

   > Yes, they ACTUALLY like loud. It's a generational thing. You can't
   > reason with that.

I'm from the time of that 'generation' and it never rubbed off on me,
probably because I make it practice to THINK!
On the other hand, how much thinking does it take to realize that when the
level goes up and it becomes painful, then turning the volume knob
   counterclockwise is in order?

   > Well, I can at least see when something doesn't work.

Or when something isn't going to work...it comes from practice.

   > Again, they don't see what they are doing as in any way wrong.

And they don't bother to Think about it either.

   > They like LOUD. So you can't get them to change. They don't want to.

Then they'll lose gigs and their hearing.

   > Again, this is a generational thing. This coming bunch didn't live the
   > world we did. They don't know. And, worst yet, they don't know they don't
   > know.

The question is - BUT do they *want* to Learn?
That's assuming of course that they're not Zombies, which would make them a
   very small minority.

   > government schools. those could be used for good, or they can, and are,
   > being used for social change.

They could only be used for good by a good government ;)
And for those who are Socialists, social 'change', usually one of their
favorite euphemisms for disaster i.e. change for the WORSE, in order to
accomplish their Vile agenda, Must always ply their loathsome craft on the
Individual level of each student, which means that each student Must be
Cowardly, Lazy, and in general, Stupid enough to go along with them, but
then that applies to those who are much older as well.

   > Well, I'm learning that history as taught in the public schools, is far
   > more about shaping public opinion than presenting a truthful account of
   > the past.

No different than what's presented in other media...it's ALL Agenda-Driven,
it's ALL done for No Other Purpose than SOLELY FOR MANIPULATION!!!

   > who said something about " better to rule in hell " ?

Hell is a place of Eternal Punishment - no 'ruling', no 'parties' or any
other silly Satanic Lies...only Non-Stop Torment, Forever!

   > I'm just trying to get by :-)

Yeah, there's a lot of that going around, and it mostly SUCKS!!!

   > off to the bank for some business. oh, and I called a mechanic this
   > morning about getting some car work done. Supposed to call back, been over
   > an hour ... tired of waiting. ...

   > if he doesn't call by noon, I'll call him again.

   > Then, settle in and think about the rest of the day.

   JimD

I'd rather let someone else worry about such things, and roadies worry about
setting things up, so all I have to 'worry' about is playing the next
   concert!
