My church got me a brand new Dell Inspiron 5000 series notebook computer and
I now have a wireless AT&T U-verse high speed connection to go with it...and
just in time, the old computer failed completely only a few weeks after
   that.

   > Watched that video. No surprise, the thing is a useless piece of junk.

Maybe for you, because that's not *your* *preference*, which goes back to
the silly idea of throwing away something just because someone else says
   they've got something better.

It takes a certain kind of player to prefer a fretless instrument to a
fretted one, but that's what CHOICE is all about!

Just like I'm Very fussy about pianos....they've got to have just the right
touch...not too heavy, not too light, sort of like Goldilocks ;) and I
expect the sound to be totally orgasmic too!

Same with an unweighted key instrument, particularly an organ...I prefer a
very light touch and the note to sound as soon as I move the key in even the
very slightest deflection i.e. "fast fire" keys.

If anything, the smaller bands should draw even greater attention to the
sound of any instrument being out of tune.

   > Even an out of tune strat might sound ... ok ... er, passable as long as

Why should a strat tune any worse than any other guitar?
   Bad tailpiece?
You mentioned 'tremolo', actually it's vibrato, and many players don't even
use them but I'm sure for those who do, there'll be something better to
   replace the stock tailpiece with.

   > Ok, not immediately. If you play loud enough, and can't play much anyway,
   > you'll not notice how crappy a constantly out of tune guitar sounds.

Just the thought of that makes me want to Puke!

   > I'm referring to the strat factory tremolo's making the guitars virtually
   > untunable.

Okay, I figured it might be something like that...so get a custom vibrato
tailpiece, or of you don't need that, just a custom tailpiece without the
   whammy bar.

   > Sure, you can bolt that down solid, or " Claptonize " it, as in drive a
   > hardwood block in to jam it from behind.

Is that what he does? ;)

   > But tuning and playing one to any sort of reference pitch when the floaty
   > tremolo works .... never gonna happen :-)

There's got to be some kind of 'gold standard' for vibrato systems.

   > Sorry I got to ranting on tremolos .... it happens. Fretless guitars
