From: kerry.beach@gmail.com              As mentioned, I have read this newgroup for years and occasionally       commented but in the old days, it was so easy to get flamed for the       most innocuous comments that I found lurking safer...              I really relate a lot to what you two guys discuss. I have performed       steady since the middle sixties and seen tons of changes and yet I am       still playing - not because I am remotely better than the ones who have       quit - I just kind of have rolled with the changes, embraced the ones       that worked for me and kept plugging. In those years, I have worked       with groups as big as six pieces while at the same time kicking bass       pedals with a korg electronic drum as a single. The reasons for       keeping going have changed over the years but the one constant has been       that I love to play - its who I am. That is why it doesn't bother me       at all if I use live, or I do tracks on garageband or logic. If the       people at the dance are happy, it is a success. If not, I try       something else. I have just never been a purist... In fact, in the       70s I even played some rocked up disco (I know - now I am banned       forever...) - I did it because the people loved it and I loved watching       them love it...              Its nice to see that there are those out there that put the audience       first and ego second. That is hard to do because we wouldn't be in       this business without a pretty healthy ego. Now, back to lurking for       me... ;-)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
