   Is the pedal passive?   
      
   I can never understand why even the passive ones are so expensive, when   
   they're only a pedal controlled potentiometer, the passive ones at least.   
      
   Some years ago, there was even a pedal that turned a speedometer cable,   
   remember those? that could be attached to a rotary potentiometer on an amp   
   so it would literally turn the knob with foot pressure.
