   Martin once made an acoustic guitar out of pallet wood - I don't know if   
   there's anything cheaper than that, and it allegedly sounded great, thanks   
   to CNC manufacturing procedures.   
      
   And compressed and laminated cardboard sounds interesting  too...but then   
   just about any kind of fiber could be used if it's processed properly, so I   
   choose carbon fiber ;)
