With my blessing :-)              Battling a deadly disease really has nothing to do with being able to afford       something. He's very fortunate to be continuing to hang in there and remain       among the living and may he continue to do so indefinitely, and he's also       very fortunate to have the financial wherewithal to collect carbon composite       bikes despite their insane costs, but the two have nothing to do with each       other. For example, whatever illness that were to befall me, no matter what       kind or how severe, will not even one iota, change the fact that I'm       struggling to survive in other areas. It would only be yet one more crisis       added to the list to endure.              Please don't misunderstand my attitude as being in any way insensitive, but       I do tend to look at things like that because I'm a 'refugee', or more       likely, a 'fugitive', from a 'shoebox', my name for a newborn infant-sized       casket, which by all that's known of medical science, then and now, I was       supposed to have long since been buried in close to 61 years ago...yet by       the Grace of God, I'm somehow still here among the living, and fighting       with everything I've got to stay that way...but after having pneumonia in       late 2015, I've begun to wonder just how many brain cells I absolutely must       have in order to remain among the living as I fear I've lost some more when       lung congestion reduced oxygen levels yet again - and it was the total loss       of oxygen in my 'incubator' minutes after being born, that got me in this       mess in the first place.              And hydraulic disc brakes are one thing - for example, they're critical for       ice riding so that traction strips can be wrapped between the spokes, around       the wheel rims and tires, which would totally interfere with any kind of       brake system that applies friction pads to the wheel rims thus rendering       them useless.              But electronic shifting...for something you still have to PEDAL YOURSELF?       What's the sense of that?              > I whine over an aching tooth ..... don't think I'd make it with a real       > illness.              If you're given no choice to begin with, does it really matter?              > Then again, failed root canals are nothing to laugh about ... that I can       > tell ya.              Unless you opt for general anesthesia instead of staying awake - WHY would       anyone want That???              > Lots going on. I'm wrapping up some recordings for someone. Hope that       > works out. We're sending parts back and forth via Dropbox.              > I spent a lot of today trying to wifi link my mac and an iPad. So I dug out an old Apple Airport Express ( modem / wifi       > ) and tried to get that to work as an intermediary. Weirdy, it would       > bridge the two computers, but only if it were connected to the net (       > ethernet link to my house system ). Pull that connection, and the       > Airport would disconnect from the computers. Weird. After hours of       > searching online, I finally found the reason, totally by accident. I       > had the Airport set to receive Apples audio thing, AirPlay. Turned       > that off, and then it worked fine. Linked the macbook pro ( running       > Logic Pro X ) and an iPad ( running Logic Remote ). Sweet. Now I can       > try and learn to use this as a replacement for the korg controller       > that's velcroed to my keyboard.              So it seems you'll be using it after all...but exactly what will you be       using them to do?              > In the process of doing this, I also decided to buy a cable modem /       > wifi, and return the one I pay $9 a month to rent from Time Warner       > Cable. Buying your own unit is tricky, but doable. Too bad Neil isn't       > around, I could use his advice on this. Sigh.                     Jim              I would think You Tube would have all kinds of information about getting the       right cable modem - it costs enough just for the access ie. Renting the       service, to be further Soaked for renting the modem too, how tacky!              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
