From: someone@anywheret.net              "JimD" wrote in message news:2017013021394610648-email@nowherecom...              > quality not quantity :-)              Most definitely.              > some have short memories, some don't              Namecalling is about the cheapest shot anyone can take...and the Whiners       don't know how to do anything else.              I can just imagine what they'd be saying about my throwing a 2017 calendar       from moneygram, into the trash where it belongs.       I got it from a local currency exchange and thought I wouldn't mind putting       it up on the kitchen wall...that us, until I got a look at it - garbage ads       all over it, and very clearly visible, but the calendar part, the important       part, was deliberately printed with very thin line characters that are hard       to see. Not only that, but throughout the dates all kinds of Foreign       holidays were listed - in fact, the entire calendar was practically a sort       of celebration of Aliens, and low-life ones at that - and what I call Ghetto       Nations - Jamaica, Haiti, Ghana, Nigeria, Guatemala, China, El Salvador,       Honduras, India, Mexico, and Philippines, even the USA was Low-Life       'represented'!              The calendar title is "A Year of Caring"...but a better title would would be       GhettoWorld!       Or as the band War put it the title track of their 1972 album, "The World Is       A Ghetto" - they sure knew what they were saying, and that was 45 years ago!       It's MUCH WORSE NOW!!!              And as if that wasn't bad enough, the disgusting pictures...of low-life       humans (I don't want pictures of ANY humans, much less low-life ones on my       calendars!) from those low-life countries - SICKENING!!!       That's why it's in the garbage...garbage calendar, celebrating garbage       countries, in the garbage, how very appropriate!              But I couldn't care less about those who'd be inclined to call me any names       over it, because I'd have some names for them too..it's NOT a one-way       street!              > They are what's available, so that's what people use. There was an effort       > a while back to go to smaller width racks for band stuff, but that       > fizzled. 19 inch racks are what they make, so that's what gets used.              It's an established size...but that was back from a time before computers       were common and large vacuum tube circuitry was everywhere...and everything       was analog, with nice big displays too.              > it was about the dancing, wasn't it ?              No, not at all. Dancing is all about getting into one another, touching, and       getting turned on ;) while the trivial background rhythmic noise, a mere       accessory, plays on ;)       Actually it's about *forcing* a genre by Formatting the songs, which means       they can't help sounding like crap.              > Gear is just something we have to put up with.              Gladly, because just imagine trying to put up with things without it ;)              > Probably too old. But, yes the fact that it's " computerized " is the       > problem. These things need software, and companies often stop supporting       > / updating software on hardware they no longer make and sell.              They should still work in any case.              > The korg is nice. And it still works. But it's finicky, touchy, sorta.       > Meaning that it will work after you fuss with it, each time you try to use       > it. And lately, Logic has taken to forgetting all my customization of the       > korgs settings. It has lots of buttons and sliders, and they are supposed       > to be user definable. But Logic is forgetting the changes I make. That       > isn't Korg's fault. It's Apples.              Computers simply aren't robust enough to be relied on like they are.              > But Apple isn't gonna change. They are a big company that often is       > supremely stubborn. So I don't expect them to fix whatever they did to       > break the korg settings. Just isn't gonna happen.              Customers Must Make it happen, be giving crApple a choice - either become a       LOT more customer friendly and sensitive, or become Defunct!              > I'm still using the korg. Will until a better solution comes along.              I'm using some old stuff too, and if it sounds good, that's All that       matters!              > We had a long day. Added a few tunes to the list. At this point, if we       > don't add 2 or 3 new tunes per rehearsal, I feel we aren't keeping up.       > Next phase is to go in and dump a bunch of older covers we do, get them       > out. I can't keep up with more than about 80 or 100 tunes on the active       > list. And seriously, that's too many. So we'll drop a few over the next       > few get togethers. Could still play the songs if they came up as       > requests, but they don't need to be in the normal, expected, setlist.                     Jim              I'd get too Bored with the same old material, so I'm always up for learning       new tunes - including the Originals!              Ouisie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
